A map maker with the goal of creating professional-looking maps with minimal effort, while still giving creators the freedom to refine every detail to match their vision.
During this short project, I had to set up the UX flow and UI style, while also integrating my assets into Godot, a game engine I haven’t used before.

MAIN MENU
Main menu - Mockup
For these kinds of menus you don’t need to reinvent the wheel. People that work on maps are used to apps like Photoshop and I wanted them to not feel lost when opening this application. I took inspiration from Procreate, I think it has a lot of good elements.
Main menu - UX wireframe
The wireframe translated really well into a mockup. I especially like the folder visual I made in the wireframe. I think that is something I lost a bit in the mockup.
TOOLBAR
Toolbar - Mockup and explorations
The toolbar was my anchor for the style of the UI. My goal was to have the buttons not be overwhelming and group as many similar systems together as possible. The visual idea was that these would be bookmarks that stick out, clicking on them would bring up the related menu.
Toolbar UX - wireframes
The biggest consideration here was if it was going to be right-sided or bottom. Based on research and together with the client we made the decision to go with the bottom-aligned UI.
Wall tool - Mockup
On the right there would be a small parameter segment where we could add sliders and buttons. The flow idea is that you go from left to right.
Fill tool - Mockup
Once I had my foundation making different options wasn’t much of an issue.
UI Icons
The icon style is a bit rounded to help with a more playful feeling, keeping them simple but readable.
SETTINGS
Settings - Mockup
Kept it simple, at the time of creation there also were not a lot of settings to be added.
CLOSING WORDS
Refreshing
I achieved a lot in the short amount of time I had on the project. I created wireframes and prototypes, integrated a UI style, and learned about a new engine. Working on this was also refreshing because it isn’t a game project. I think the project has a lot of potential, and I hope to see it succeed.
